The TankESP Software Product Suite provides an easy-to-use, intuitive user interface to calculate the complex and extensive AP-42 storage tank emission calculations. TankESP PRO and TankESP FX can be customized to provide reports for permitting, agency reporting, and internal compliance tracking. Additionally, the TankESP Software Product Suite includes many time-saving features that are listed below.

Read the release notes for the full list of features and bug fixes

  • Includes revised calculation methodologies and new pure chemical and location datasets in the U.S. EPA 2018 draft AP-42 Chapter 7
  • Users can specify a site's emission calculation methods based on U.S. EPA December 2006 AP-42 Chapter 7 or U.S. EPA 2018 draft AP-42 Chapter 7
  • Users can specify the ratio of tank height to tank diameter: default (0.5) or calculated based on inputs of tank height and tank diameter
  • Users can specify the chemical and location dataset: Post-2018, Pre-2018, or User Defined
  • Includes three (3) short-term emission calculation methods based on API technical report 2576, 2018 TCEQ guidance APGD 6250 and APGD 6419
  • Calculates a tank’s worst-case, short-term emissions based on its monthly short-term emissions
  • Includes calculation templates for non-routine tank cleaning, roof landing, and change of service emissions
  • Allows users to display/edit all tanks’ or an individual tank’s service records in the Edit Service Information window
  • Automatically selects proper templates and batch export emission calculation steps in the Preview Emissions Data window and Preview short-term Emissions Data window
  • Import/export report configurations
  • Compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7/8/10, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008/2012, and Microsoft office 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016
  • Compatible with the TankESP Database (TankESP_d) Version 4.0 backend file
  • Utilizes tabular data entry forms which have a spreadsheet-like grid of input cells (data grid), similar to a spreadsheet worksheet, allowing users to insert or delete rows, clear or copy and paste data entries, and fill multiple cells with the same data entry for quickly populating throughput and product data for routine emission calculations
  • Stores user-defined pure chemicals, stocks, and locations data, as well as the tanks and service information data
  • Has no limit on the number of sites, tanks, stocks, or pure chemicals
  • Includes numerous tank types with custom tank setup
  • Accommodates copying an entire existing site as a new site in order to easily create “what-if” scenarios for permitting purposes
  • Accommodates automated reporting on monthly, quarterly, and annual bases, as well as showing 12-month rolling averages and totals versus permit limits and conditions
  • Exports emissions data and reports to Excel
  • Calculates working loss and standing loss
  • Estimates emissions from storage tanks, correctly applying EPA’s current AP-42 and 2018 draft AP-42 emission factors and equations for annual and monthly emission estimates
  • Applies TCEQ and API methodologies to estimate maximum short-term (pound/hour) emission estimates
  • Estimates emissions from floating-roof landings using AP-42 methodology
  • Estimates emissions from tank cleanings using AP-42 methodology
  • Calculates speciated emissions for each type of emissions event, as well as emissions of total VOCs; speciated emissions may be further tracked as TRI, HAP, or by other group designations
  • Calculates flashing emissions from production field tanks using the Laboratory GOR method
  • Accommodates mid-month changes in service, calculating the emissions for a given service based on the number of days that the tank was in that service
  • Adjusts emission estimates to account for a change in tank construction (such as adding a dome roof on an open-top external floating-roof tank) while maintaining historical records of estimated emissions based on the prior tank configuration for the period before the change
  • Accounts for the control efficiency when vapors are routed to a control device
