HEXFRAG
HEXFRAG was developed as a plug-in to the HEXDAM damage assessment model. HEXDAM originated from research done in nuclear engineering in the 1970s. HEXFRAG was developed later and is based on research conducted by the Department of Energy on fragmentation damage assessment.

The HEXFRAG Fortran executable is developed and maintained by Engineering Analysis Inc. (EAI).  EAI is the original developer of the HEXDAM and VEXDAM models.

Overview
HEXFRAG uses the graphical capabilities of HEXDAM 7.x software to display predicted fragmentation effects.

HEXFRAG is particularly useful with the “HEXDAM Man”, a human injury model. When using HEXDAM with HEXFRAG, the user can specify which HEXDAM Man is “exposed” to fragmentation effects. This is very useful, for example, when studying the efficacy of blast shields and other objects designed to mitigate injury.

Features/benefits:

  • Runs quickly.
  • Fully compatible with HEXDAM and HEXDAM-Man.
  • Improves injury predictions by incorporating effects of fragmentation.
  • Allows emergency managers to evaluate the effects of anti-fragmentation materials and blast walls on potential injury.
