BREEZE ExDAM® (Explosion Damage & Injury Assessment Model) is a unique, efficient 3D explosion consequence modeling suite that allows users to predict injury and damage resulting from the detonation of high explosive and vapor cloud explosions. BREEZE ExDAM contains the High Explosive Damage Assessment Model (HExDAM) and Vapor Cloud Explosion Damage Assessment Model (VExDAM). These numerical models provide a fast and accurate means to calculate structure damage and personnel injury due to overpressure (OP), dynamic pressure (DP), and impulse (IP) distributions.

BREEZE ExDAM contains the high explosive numerical model,
HExDAM, and the vapor cloud explosion numerical model, VExDAM. These numerical
models provide a high speed means to predict peak overpressure (OP), dynamic
pressure (DP), and impulse (IP) distributions in and around structures and
people. These pressure/impulse distributions are a function of the location
and strength of an explosion and the shielding that structures and people
provide to all other structures and people. For each computed
pressure/impulse distribution, the peak incident pressure and impulse on
structure and person components is used (via empirical
Pressure-Impulse-Damage-Injury data) to predict damage to structure components
and injury to person components.
Compared to simple explosion radius
techniques, BREEZE ExDAM predicts the shielding effects provided by up-stream
structures to down-stream structures. This provides the means to perform more
detailed, more precise, and more automated damage/injury consequence
analyses. Compared to complex CFD methods, ExDAM provides a computational
alternative to full-physical modeling, which is:
- Easier to
- Less dependent on operator expertise
- Allows for
larger scenario modeling domains
- Larger numbers of scenario
